In celebration of World Gin Day on 10 June, we asked Michael Kain, head distiller at 6 O’clock Gin for his ideal spots to enjoy a G&T with a waterside view...

Broken Dock Kitchen & Bar

After a spot of bad luck with the plumbing, the Broken Dock (née Café Brigstow) team are back and looking better than ever! With arguably the best spot on the waterfront and stunning views across the water to the SS Great Britain (get there early to grab your space on the wall), Broken Dock and its smart and succinct gin list will set you on your way to a very pleasant Friday evening indeed.

No.1 Harbourside

Sister bar to Stokes Croft favourite The Canteen and the delightfully quirky Old Market Assembly; No 1 Harbourside is a brilliant after work spot with a wide range of local and national gins. Showcasing an ever-changing, locally-sourced and ethically-focused food menu, along with a great selection of live music in the evenings, this is a place that can keep you entertained all night!

No 1 Harbourside

The Pumphouse

One for the true gin connoisseurs! Boasting a list reputed to run at over 400 hundred different gins, The Pumphouse is bound to not only have your favourite, but also be able to find you something new and exciting to try. There’s a large outdoor seating area where you can soak up the gentle hubbub of harbour life - a perfect spot that captures Bristol’s relaxed waterside atmosphere at its best.

Riverstation

Perennial favourite and long-time Bristol food institution, Riversation has recently been given a gentle refurb throughout. The downstairs waterside terrace has glorious views of St Mary Redcliffe’s elegant spire and the Redcliffe Caves. Grab yourself a G&T, moor up at a table and settle in to an evening watching the rowers glide past as the sun sets over the historic dockside cranes.

Wild Beer at Whapping Wharf

We can’t all be gin fans (though we’re working on it!), so if some of your friends have yet to discover the joys of juniper, then Wild Beer’s bar is a great spot to indulge a taste for hops alongside a well-considered gin list. With fast, friendly service and views of the dockside, everyone’s sure to find a glass of something to suit their fancy.

Keep your eyes peeled for an exciting announcement from 6 O’clock Gin about a limited release of Bristol’s first (and some would say finest) gin this weekend...
