Circomedia

Private bookings are welcome at Circomedia's central Bristol base: the lovingly-restored Grade One Listed St Paul's Church which stands in leafy Portland Square - conveniently close to transport links, car parks, hotels and the Cabot Circus shopping mall - and can accommodate up to 200 guests.

St Paul's Church was built in 1794 as the focal point of one of the south west's finest Georgian squares. Since 2005 the church has been home to the internationally-respected circus-theatre training academy Circomedia following major restorations which included the sympathetic and unique addition of rigging for trapeze, silks and corde lisse.

The church's wedding cake-like design, elegant interior and photo-friendly stained glass windows, columns and gardens make the church especially popular as a venue for wedding parties and other family celebrations.

Circomedia: Portland Square is, however, equally well-quipped to stage many other types of events, including annual meetings, awards ceremonies, business gatherings, concerts, film shoots, fundraisers, markets and training.

Facilities include a fully licensed cafe-bar and professional-standard lighting and sound systems. The building is also accessible by wheelchair and has a wide-access toilet.

Hirers are welcome to treat the space like a blank canvas, supported throughout by our experienced events management team and technical staff.

Circomedia can add original touches or excitement to private events by providing professional circus-theatre entertainers or team-building events. In addition, have-a-go trapeze or mixed aerial skills sessions can be laid on, for instance for hen/stag parties or to add extra interest to a formal meeting.
