Green venues
A fair-trade city, the UK’s first cycling city and the only UK city nominated for the European Green Capital Award for 2010/11. With this and over 450 parks and green spaces, proportionately more than any other UK city, it is easy to see why Bristol has earned its reputation as a Green Capital. It is a city that is truly dedicated to sustainable living and proud of it.
A number of venues in the city and surrounding area have achieved accreditation through the national sustainable tourism certification scheme, the Green Tourism Business Scheme, and work hard to ensure that the environmental impact of their business is as minimal as possible.
