Eating Out in Bristol
Bristol is an incredible foodie city and you’ll find some very special restaurants in Bristol that are unique to the city as well as some more familiar names.
Many hotels have excellent restaurants but if you want to explore and see more of the city, Bristol offers great variety from exclusive award-winning establishments to quirky Bristol diners. Look out for local specialities including local beef and lamb, and many places will serve vegetables grown locally or in their own gardens.
Many pubs and restaurants, particularly those around the Harbourside, also offer live music and entertainment. The ‘magic’ pubs Smoke and Mirrors and Illusions frequently have live magic shows and stand up and Horts has its own mini cinema. Watershed’s café bar is a great place to grab a bite to eat before enjoying a visit to their cinema.
For a unique Bristol experience, try The Glassboat, Bordeaux Quay or Riverstation all overlooking the harbourside. For a slightly more relaxed environment, Three Brothers Burgers and Mud Dock Cafe are great places for an after event drink and cater for lighter bites as well as lunch and dinner.
For the ultimate in unique Bristol dining, The Lido offers exquisite food overlooking the outdoor pool - the award winning Clifton Kitchen is located on the original site of Keith Floyd's first establishment.
It’s a great idea to try the local drinks too. Bath Ales and Bristol Beer Factory have local beers and ciders available in many establishments and if you fancy going local, try the ciders available at The Apple or the Stable where a huge range are available to try.
Bristol also has a great cocktail culture and there are plenty of hidden cocktail bars or speakeasies to seek out. Luckily, VisitBristol can help point you in the right direction as some are very hidden!
