Making The Most Of Your Time in Bristol
If you are going to be in Bristol for a couple of days and do not have the luxury of an organised events programme, there are a number of ways in which you can make your most of the time in the city.
Bristol is the city of the bridges, balloons, boats, Brunel and of course the famous Banksy. This is also the city of entertainment – festivals, cinema, music, theatre and comedy.
Whether your interests lie in galleries, museums, sports or sightseeing, Bristol has a wide range of places to visit. Discover the art of Banksy through the city, take pictures of the amazing view at the Suspension Bridge or join in the Bristol Pirate Walk - there is something for everyone here to do!
There is a huge amount of choice when it comes to catching a bit of theatre or music. Bristol is lucky enough to have the Bristol Hippodrome, Bristol Old Vic and Tobacco Factory theatres as well as venues such as St Georges and Colston Hall for musical or comedy events. It’s always worth checking with the venues own box office to see what’s available rather than online if it’s late notice as you never know what may have been returned that day.
There are a huge number of places to catch live music and bands. VisitBristol can offer advice about gigs and where to watch them.
For something rather different, At-Bristol Science Centre often has after-hours events just for the grown-ups so you can check out the exhibits (and when we say check out, we of course mean play with) with a glass of wine in hand.
If you prefer to disappear to the cinema, there are a few in the centre to choose from including the Watershed, Odeon and Showcase Cinema de Lux.
If you have a small group, don’t forget to book activities or events as far ahead as you can. VisitBristol is packed full of ideas.
