First Great Western 2for1
Download application form
Following the great success of the 2007-2008 2for1 Bristol & Bath campaign, First Great Western Trains are looking to repeat the promotion for 2008-2009 and will be putting even more energy into promoting days out by train to both cities.
Last year this included 70,000 leaflets, a plastering of Paddington Station, posters at FGW train stations, Radio Jingles, a dedicated web page, door drops, features in the Go To.. train magazine and other communication channels.
This year's campaign promises to be even bigger and will run from October 2008 through to May 2009. Destination Bristol will be promoting the campaign through our Tourist Information Centre, on VisitBristol.co.uk, in our 2009 days out guide and through leaflet distribution at exhibitions, trade shows, shopping centre promotions and so on.
Offers need to be strictly on a 2for1 basis. This ideally should be 2for1 entry into Bristol attractions but could also include 2for1 nights at hotels (e.g. stay Saturday, get Sunday free), 2for1 dinning in restaurants, 2for1 cocktails at bars, 2for1 on afternoon tea/merchandise at free attractions, 2for1on theatre tickets, 2for1 on other tourism services e.g. guided walks, bike hire, 2for1 shopping and cinema offers and so on.
In an ideal world, those submitting offers should be within an easy distance from a FGW train station, so travel by train can be promoted. Final say on qualifying offers will remain with First Great Western Trains. Guidelines will at a later date be provided to successful applicants on handling and accepting coupons, but ultimately consumers will be eligible for the 2for1 offer on presentation of a valid train ticket and completed 2for1 coupon.
To submit an offer, please download the above application form, complete and return by email to Kerrie Grist to kerrie.grist@destinationbristol.co.uk by 21st August 2008.
Enjoy England Autumn Campaign
Research from Visit Britain suggests 2008 is proving to be a mixed year for the tourism industry in England, with some sectors are experiencing a very positive effect from the economic downturn, as more people choose to holiday at home. However, others are losing out as consumers tighten their belts. It is important therefore to get the message out to our target audience that a short break, holiday or day trip in Bristol and South West England offers not only a real, fun and indulgent experience, but one that is affordable and offers good value for money when compared with other potential competitors for a share of wallet.
As part of an Autumn Campaign, EnjoyEngland are carrying out a tactical drive to EnjoyEngland.com, highlighting great affordable experiences throughout the country. Promotions of attraction and accommodation discounts and value added incentives will take place free of charge.
These will be displayed on the new Autumn Breaks (working title) section on the website and will benefit directly from the campaign traffic. Media Communications will run from 15 September - 27 October and throughout January 2009 to encourage consumers to take at least one more short break or day trip before Christmas (and one before Easter for Jan). The offers form just one element of the campaign and a regional highlights page will also be used to bring the campaign landing page to life.
If you wish to participate in the Enjoy England Campaign, you will need to submit the following information:
1. Accommodation & Attraction businesses
All businesses will need to supply details of the offer, when it is valid, website and terms and conditions that apply. If you do not supply any terms and conditions, the default will be 'Offer valid until 31st March 2009. Voucher only valid for one entry. Voucher has no cash value. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer, scheme, concession or discount. Only one discount will be given per transaction. For full details please contact the venue directly. Subject to availability.'
2. Additional information for Attractions
As well as the above, you will need to qualify the 'type' that best describes your attraction from the following list: Museum/Gallery, History/Heritage, Outdoor, Animals/Nature, Theme Parks, Good on a rainy day
Details should be sent by email to Kerrie Grist at kerrie.grist@destinationbristol.co.uk by Tuesday 19th August at the latest. Destination Bristol will then collate Bristol offers and submit to South West Tourism, who will in turn send onto Enjoy England. Alternatively, complete and submit the data form. Please note that this will need to be returned to Kerrie to confirm details.
