Destination Bristol aims to deliver a marketing programme which inspires visitors and differentiates the city region from its competitors, exploiting the unique character and its internationally recognised icons. Our overall aim is to increase day visitors and overnight stays to Bristol.

Marketing Objectives

  • Increase interest in Bristol as a destination and stop-over for the Group leisure market
  • Increase first time and repeat domestic leisure short breaks and day visits within two hour drive time
  • Maximise the visiting friends and relatives (VFR) market opportunities from resident student population
  • Develop awareness of Bristol in key overseas leisure markets
  • Increase awareness of business tourism from both domestic and overseas (route driven) markets and increase sales activity
  • Raise the profile of the importance of our tourism industry to local people and decision makers
  • Provide visitors with useful marketing collateral when they reach the city to ensure an enjoyable visit and maximum spend

In the last few years, we were successful in gaining regional growth funding as part of a larger investment in tourism, led by VisitEngland. The objectives of this funding are to increase leisure tourists travelling from within the UK (domestic tourism) and to increase business tourism from overseas.
