212 Eco House is a one bedroom house located behind Room 212, a gallery of Bristol art.

Despite being so close to the bustle of Gloucester Rd, the longest high street of independent shops in Europe, 212 Eco House is a natural oasis of calm. The 2 storey house is built from sustainable materials of wood, sheep’s wool insulation, mud and straw (light earth) walls plus recycled bricks and roof timbers from the Victorian warehouse that originally stood on the site.  A living roof of sedums and pollinator friendly plants adds to the high level of insulation. Nearly everything in the house is upcycled or locally sourced, including the kitchen units, tiles and furniture. The built- in king size bed is constructed from the chunky king pin timbers which held up the rafters of the old warehouse. The floors and worktops are sustainably sourced solid oak. Set in a garden of attractive flower beds, climbing plants on trellises and seating areas tucked into sunny corners, the house is made private behind a living willow ‘fedge’. The bike shed has a living roof, planted with herbs and flowers.

As you can see we have recently added a spot of colour to the Eco House with beautiful murals by the very talented Carla James and the Knitted Pea
