Voted Bristol’s Tourism Event of the Year in 2011, the Festival of Nature unleashes the city’s wild side once again this summer, taking over the Harbourside on the weekend of 16-17 June.
The UK's largest free celebration of the natural world, the Bristol Festival of Nature lets loose wildlife enthusiasts of all ages to explore, enjoy, and get close to nature in the heart of the city.Throughout the weekend, the festival site will be packed with exciting free activities from over 150 organisations – here's a taste of what's in store...
Interactive Exhibits
Lloyd's Amphitheatre and Millennium Square will be packed with over twenty-five different organisations running fun and interactivie activities for all ages. Discover the latest technology with the BBC Natural History Unit, or enjoy hands-on science activities from UWE and University of Bristol. Learn more about conservation in the city in the Wild Bristol tent, and visit our new themed tents to find out about bees or the marine world.
Talks programme
This year the Amphitheatre will be host to the Festival's largest ever talks tent, welcoming expert speakers from the world of natural history, including BBC The One Show's Mike Dilger, Urban Birder David Lindo, and author Hugh Warwick, as well as a headline debate in conjunction with RCUK's Connected Communities research programme.
The Green Forum
Anchor Square once again welcomes the Green Forum tent, with 40 organisations in one place giving visitors a chance to get involved with their cause. Find out more about national environmental campaigns from leading charities, or local conservation groups working in your own community. Join a group, make a pledge, start a new hobby!
Festival Market
Packed with local produce and sustainable goods, the bustling Festival Market, located in Waterfront Square, is a great place to do your weekend shopping. Sample the wares of independent producers from across the South West, take home a unique gift, or relax with lunch in the Festival beer garden.
Live entertainment
Soak up the Festival atmosphere with live performance, art and music across the site. Entertainers will be roaming the site, as well as performing on the two Festival stages, and in the pop-up wildlife garden.
