In the third of the Gould Piano Trio's exploration of the complete Beethoven piano trios, the trio is joined by the eloquent and impassioned clarinetist Robert Plane for a performance that holds the attention from start to finish: from the dark opening of Beethoven's Kakadu Variations, through the final resolution of Opus 11 into a simple but moving downward scale, leaving only silence and memory, to the lilting finale of the delightful Trio in E flat.
