Sometimes, it's the simple things in life that are hard to come by… "Where en route can a group stop for a good cup of tea?"

Here are some suggestions for tea stops in and around Bristol.

Bristol Marriott Royal Drawing Room

The afternoon tea experience here is one which has taken time and effort to master. With choices of teas and fresh cakes made by the pastry chef served in the comfortable environment of the Drawing Room you can be assured of a great treat at a reasonable price. There is also an a la carte restaurant.

Dockyard Cafe Bar at Brunel's ss Great Britain

A trip to the world's first Great Ocean Liner is a must for any visitor to Bristol. Plan a tea break either before or after your visit. The light and airy cafe bar provides wonderful views of Bristol's harbourside and a special range of homemade cakes and produce to choose from... including its very own ale!

Farm Shop and Café at Ashton Court Estate

Located two miles from the city centre, Ashton Court is the Uk’s third busiest country park offering stunning views across the city.  Free coach parking is available for groups stopping to use the new visitor facilities in the Old Stable Yard, to include a Café and Farm Shop.  A Bistro is also available – group bookings should be made in advance.

Undercroft Café, St Mary Redcliffe Church

Enjoy the tranquil and intimate surroundings in the Undercroft of St Mary Redcliffe Church where organic hot and cold beverages are served with freshly made sandwiches, cakes and scones and home cooked lunches. Lunches from 12.00-14.00. Private functions including dinners, receptions and buffets also catered for.

The Refectory, Bristol Cathedral

The refectory is located at the end of the cloisters in Bristol Cathedral and offers light meals and snacks together with home made cakes and scones, teas, coffee and a selection of soft drinks.  Small groups are welcome to sit and enjoy a meal inside the refectory or, weather permitting, go outside and sit in the garden.  Monday - Saturday 10.00am -3.00pm 

Thornbury Castle

Stop here for a traditional afternoon tea, held in the library or lounge every day between 3pm to 4.45pm. Relax in stately surroundings with a cream tea, freshly baked scones with homemade jam and clotted cream. There is an array of homemade biscuits and cakes, or choose a full tea with a selection of finger sandwiches. Located just off J16 of the M5.

Village Pottery, Clifton

On your visit to Clifton Village or on your way to the Suspension Bridge, don't miss out on The Village Pottery in Princess Victoria Street. You will find a unique open studio, gallery and coffee bar run by potter Jen Hamilton. This landmark pottery in Clifton Village is a great place to enjoy a cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee and a slice of homemade cake.

As with all group arrangements, if you are planning to bring a large number of visitors it is advisable to contact the venue prior to your arrival to make them aware of your intentions and to avoid disappointment.
