Bristol climbs the ranks as a top meetings and events destination

Tourism officials in Bristol are pleased to announce that the city has increased its ranking from 17th to 7th place overall as a top UK destination for conferences, meetings and events, in the last twelve months.  

 

The news comes from the British Meetings & Events Industry Survey (BMEIS), a definitive study of market trends based on interviews with more than 600 British event organisers. Bristol was the 5th most popular event destination in England alone and more popular than Glasgow and Edinburgh for association events.

Kathryn Davis, Commercial Manager at Destination Bristol said:

"We are absolutely thrilled that Bristol has been recognised as a top destination by the UK meetings and events industry and to rise 10 places to 7^th overall is a great achievement.  Value for money, location and ease of access are the key influencing factors for any event organiser and so Bristol genuinely has a lot to offer. We have a fantastic range of hotels, conference centres, restaurants and activities, great customer service and a really strong partnership across the city-all working together to ensure that we achieve our potential".

According to the BMEIS, London still dominates the meeting and events sector, however the survey noted that many organisations are opting for 'smaller, shorter, regional events'. This minimises the amount time that attendees have to allocate to events and reduces the cost of travel.
