A new pirate movie by Aardman Animations will launch in March 2012 with a star-studded cast.

Bristol-based creative power house, Aardman Animations, is world-known for their animated Wallace and Gromit shorts and feature films Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit – which utilise one of the most widely-recognised stop-motion clay animation aesthetics in the world.
Their newest endeavour is a film called The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists and is based on the series of books by the same name. In the film, Pirate Captain sets out on a mission to defeat his rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz for the 'Pirate of the Year Award'.
The quest takes Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. The film stars Hugh Grant, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, David Tennant, Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Brian Blessed, and is set for premiere on 30th March 2012. The film is directed by Peter Lord and co-directed by Jeff Newitt.
