Bristol Drawing School at Paintworks

The new Bristol Drawing School at Paintworks celebrates its official launch on March 21, with a series of Easter weekend open days, followed by Drawing Matters, an exhibition of contemporary drawings by a collection of local and national artists (March 28 – April 20). A non-profit-making private arts venue and education facility founded by Graham Woodruff and artist Carol Peace, the school aims to encourage and nurture the art of drawing, not only as an art form in its own right, but as an essential part of the creative process; the foundation of numerous disciplines from sculpture to animation.

Housed in a light airy double-height space, next door to Carol’s sculpture studio in Bristol’s creative quarter, the school offers professional tuition to both artists and beginners of all ages and abilities, in a specially designed space; while the integrated gallery celebrates the art of drawing with related exhibitions, workshops and lectures which aim to promote both insight and interaction.

The Drawing School's courses include life drawing and observational drawing, complemented by one or two day workshops covering subject such as animation.

The Drawing School Easter Open Days are on 21 - 23 March from 10am - 5 pm.

Road Directions

Paintworks is located on the A4 (Bath Road) near Totterdown. From the Motorway, follow signs for Temple Meads Railway Station, then continue along the A4 bearing left at Three Lamps junction. Continue for approx half a mile, Paintworks is on the left hand side.

Public Transport Directions

Paintworks is served by a number of buses running from the centre of Bristol harbour area and from Temple Meads station: 1, 349, and 57.
