WWT Slimbridge Centre remains open to the public after concerns its mains water supply may fail as water shortages in the county worsened.
The centre, which had been advised by Severn Trent Water yesterday that Slimbridge was among a list of areas expected to lose mains water supply as a result of flooding in the Gloucester area, was advised this afternoon that 'those with supplies should not be affected'.
Veronica Morriss, Senior Operations Manager at WWT Slimbridge said 'WWT Slimbridge is not flooded and our wetlands have been doing their job here. We are delighted to remain open to the public to provide activities for families of all ages.'
'The launch our summer exhibition Flight, a colourful and exciting exhibition of contemporary textiles by renowned art group the South West Textiles Group will go ahead as planned on Sunday 29 July. We also have indoor and outdoor play activities for all ages.'
