The centre remains open to the public with hot water, power and a full activities programme. Despite many parts of Gloucestershire being affected by flooding and clean water shortages.
Veronica Morriss, Senior Operations Manager at WWT Slimbridge said 'WWT Slimbridge is not flooded and our wetlands have been doing their job here. We are delighted to remain open to the public to provide activities for families of all ages. Bearing in mind that many families are currently without water or power we would like offer, included in each admission ticket, a bowl of warming soup.'
'We have lots of fun indoor activities for families of all ages and if the sun shines it's a perfect chance to don a costume and feed our young cranes at the Crane School. There are free nature films being shown all day in our cinema and our summer exhibition Flight, a colourful and exciting exhibition of contemporary textiles by renowned art group the South West Textiles Group will keep the grown ups happy too.'
