September's Slow Food Market joins forces with the Bristol Allotment Fair

Bristol's Slow Food Market
This Sunday's Bristol Slow Food Market (September 2, 2007) has joined forces with The Allotment Fair.

The move follows the cancellation of the annual Flower Show, which normally takes place on The Downs.

The Bristol Allotment Fair has been setting up stalls to exhibit and sell their allotment-grown produce at the Flower Show every year for the last ten years, but this year, suddenly found themselves without a venue.

"The Allotment Fair is due to celebrate its 11th year this month," said Steve Clampin, Bristol City Council Allotment Manager. "The fair offers people a fantastic opportunity to buy fresh produce, grown on allotments all over Bristol. We are grateful for the opportunity to relocate this popular event alongside the Slow Food Market in Corn Street."

The 2007 Allotment Fair will be joining over 30 regular Slow Food Traders who will be selling a delicious variety of fresh produce from around the region, including: specialist breads; meat; game; poultry; patisserie; handmade chocolates; organic spices; local fruit and vegetables; wines; ciders and preserves.

The Slow Food Market runs from 10am to 3pm, on Sunday, September 2 and gives shoppers the chance to meet with local producers and find out more about how to cook and prepare some of the South West's best foods.
