It's a Cracking Day Out For Kids

Wallace and GromitMovie and TV stars Wallace and Gromit will be the big attraction at the Avon Valley Railway this weekend.

The two characters will be appearing on behalf of their Grand Appeal as part of the railway's Teddy Bear's Picnic on Sunday 9th September.

"It's going to be a big day for children" said AVR's Commercial services Manager Bill Miller. "Wallace and Gromit will be with us all day and, as usual with our Teddy Bear's Picnic, any child who brings along a bear will be able to travel free on the train.

"In addition, they'll have the chance to Hunt the Teddy, Clown Bobby will be providing a magic show and turning balloons into animals - and children can also learn how to make a Wallace and Gromit lunch box hat."

Steam trains will begin operating on Sunday at 11.00 am, with the last train of the day at 4.00pm. The gift shop at Bitton station will be open and the buffet will be ready to serve visitors, as well as weary walkers and cyclists using the Bristol and Bath Railway Path, with hot food sandwiches, cakes, drinks and ice cream. Wallace might even find his favourite Wensleydale cheese sandwich.
