New exhibit to open at WWT Slimbridge

Welly Boot Land, the new children's play area at Slimbridge Wetland Centre will be launched on Saturday 19 July.

Welly Boot Land introduces a new concept in children's play with a complement of natural and water-based play equipment. The area is made up of activities based on a water channel which runs from its source to a paddling pool. At points along its route there are opportunities to play with the water, to cross, dam and change the flow of the water or even to get wet. Getting is not compulsory, however welly boots and/or a change of clothes are recommended for those children who enjoy a good splash!

To celebrate the launch of this magical new play area where children can engage their senses and imagination WWT Slimbridge have commissioned performances of a educational, fun and spectacular musical specially for children.

The musical, written and performed by Huddersfield based band Being 747, is titled Amoeba to Zebra, and tells the story of the development of all forms of life on the planet, from micro-organisms through to mankind. It is both educational and fun, and will include stunning costumes and props and spectacular visuals. And it's free - clearly an opportunity not to be missed.

The show will be preformed three times during the day in the grounds, and pre-booking is not required. It also marks the start of the summer holiday activities, grouped together as The Unloved Animal Show.

So be there at the start, enjoy a unique Slimbridge occasion and have a great day out!
