Clowning around at Bristol Zoo Gardens

Bristol Zoo Gardens will be running free circus skills sessions for schools next week.

From July 7-11 a host of free activities will be on offer as part of the Zoo's 'Secondary Schools Week'.

The workshops will be run by Firestar Circus Arts and include juggling, tightrope, walking globe, rola bola, acrobatics and acrobalance, club swinging, stilts and unicycling.

Pupils practise the circus skills on their own and in pairs, with the aim of promoting participants' confidence, flexibility, endurance, imagination, agility, coordination and focus. The sessions are also a fun day out for schools as they approach the end of the school term.

The circus skills workshops are suitable for all ages, including primary schools, and can be pre-booked by schools or attended by visitors on a drop-in basis, subject to availability.

Sessions are FREE and run four times daily at 10.30am, 11.25am, 12.40pm and 13.25pm, in the marquee on the Zoo's west lawn. There is a maximum of 30 spaces per session.
