Baby Donkey born at Noah’s Ark Zoo

New baby foalNoah's Ark Zoo Farm is happy to announce the birth of a new baby Donkey! Dora the explorer as she is affectionately known, has given birth to a healthy baby girl! The baby foal was born on Monday 2nd June.

Keeper, Sadie Garland said, "Mother and baby are doing well. We have been waiting for Dora to give birth for quite some time and feel delighted that the birth was straightforward and mum and baby are well"

The new baby foal, which is yet to be named, is already a hit with the visitors, galloping around the fields at top speed.

Donkeys or Equus Asinus, have a reputation for stubbornness but this is due to their highly developed sense of self preservation.

"The new arrival can communicate by posture as well as by several different sounds and position of their ears" says Sadie. "They can bray, growl, snort and wuffle and for something so small, this can be quite noisy!"

The new baby Donkey is amongst hundreds of fascinating and exciting animals at the Zoo. Visitors can see the baby Donkey every day at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Monday - Saturday 10.30 - 5.00pm.
