SWEDES WIN WEEKEND BREAK TO BRISTOL

Swedes win weekend break to BristolA Swedish couple have returned home to Stockholm after winning a three night weekend break for two in Bristol.

The competition, jointly set up between Destination Bristol and VisitBritain formed part of a campaign to support a new Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) flight from Stockholm to Bristol International Airport, which launched on 29th June 2007.

Carina Eriksson was one of over 1,140 people who entered the competition which was sent to existing SAS newsletter subscribers. She traveled with her husband, Per Eriksson, and were among the first ever passengers to fly into Bristol on the new SAS service.

The lucky winners were greeted when the plane touched down at Bristol by Kerrie Grist, Marketing Executive of Destination Bristol and Joe Ashman, Business Sales Manager for SAS. Reporting before her trip, an excited Carina Eriksson revealed; "I'm so proud to be on the first plane from Stockholm to Bristol. Every one of my friends asks me about Bristol and again I'm so proud to have won and be visiting the city."

The couple enjoyed a three night complimentary stay at the 4 star Mercure Holland House Hotel, free tickets to some of Bristol's best loved attractions including Brunel's ss Great Britain, Bristol Zoo Gardens, The British Empire & Commonwealth Museum and Explore-At Bristol and dinner for two on Saturday night at the Phoenix Restaurant.

Returning home Carina said; "On Saturday we began at Explore-At-Bristol and there we tried and tested almost everything! We took the boat to the ss Great Britain' - that was amazing and very well presented to visitors. On Sunday we got the train to Bath and did a city tour by bus before returning to Bristol for a harbour cruise on a Bristol ferry"

Carina continued by saying "We have had a wonderful weekend in Bristol - what a lovely city you have, I can't thank you enough!"

3. Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) launched its new service from Bristol International Airport to Stockholm on Friday 29th June. The new service marks the further expansion of SAS' UK network and operates twice-weekly on Monday and Friday evenings. SAS will operate an Economy Class product on all flights, in addition to its unique premium economy service, Economy Extra.
