The Matthew

The Matthew Bristol Harbour Cruises

John Cabot discovered Newfoundland in 1497 in the original Matthew, becoming the first European known to have set foot on the American mainland. Today's Matthew is a faithful reconstruction built to cross the Atlantic on the 500th anniversary.

Today she is moored alongside Brunel's ss Great Britain as part of the visitor attraction, and is available for year-round public harbour cruises and private charters around Bristol's harbour, as well as summer sailing passages around the British Isles.
