Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust

Clifton Suspension Bridge

The world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge was designed by the great Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, although he never lived to see his creation finished in 1864. Its spectacular setting on the cliffs of the Avon Gorge have made it the symbol of Bristol, drawing thousands of visitors a year just to stroll across for views of the gorge and elegant Clifton.

The Spring/Summer guided tours have now begun! The free tours begin at 3.00pm every Saturday and Sunday from Easter weekend until the end of October. Meet at the toll booth at the Clifton end of the Bridge and expect each tour to last around 45 mins. The guided tours are suitable for all ages and abilities - great for the enthusiast, the school project or for general interest.

No need to book - just turn up. Not suitable for large organised groups where separate arrangements apply.

A Visitor Centre on the Leigh Woods side of the Bridge is open daily 10.00am to 5.00pm.
