Hands On Activities at the City Museum & Art Gallery
Handle real objects and get creative with a range of themed activities every month, such as Strike a Light, Toy time, Natural World, going Underground and many more! These popular free drop-in activities are run on a first-come first-served basis. Children must have adult supervision.

Discover the fabulous array of colours on our weird and wonderful museum objects. Find out how or why these colours exist with art and craft activities for all the family. Suitable for children aged 2-11 years. No need to book. Drop-in.

Have fun creating your own moving toys (a snapping crocodile, a rocking horse and lots more) and discover what children played with in the past by handling some traditional toys. Suitable for children aged 2-11 years. No need to book. Drop-in.

Come and explore the wonders of the ‘Natural World’ with a day of craft and handling activities dedicated to all creatures - great and small. An International Year of Biodiversity event. Suitable for children aged 2-11 years. No need to book. Drop-in.
