SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN AS SPECTACULAR GROTTO OPENS IN CABOT CIRCUS

Tuesday, 8th December 2009

Young visitors to Cabot Circus will get a magical surprise this Christmas thanks to a special guest from the North Pole, as the centre plays host to Santa’s grotto for the first time.

Open from the 21st November and costing just £4.50, the grotto features enchanting winter wonderland scenes, animated reindeer and polar bears, providing a truly special experience to delight children of all ages. As well as meeting Santa and his elves, all children will be given a special gift, while parents and guardians will be able to purchase photographs as a treasured memento or a gift for someone special.

The grotto is just one of the festive treats awaiting visitors to Cabot Circus this year, with Quakers Friars and Broadmead hosting a traditional German market. Open until the 20th December and boasting more than 20 stalls, the market will offer a wide range of beautiful crafts, unique gifts and mouth-watering food and drink, including ‘Gluhwein’ – a festive German mulled wine.

The centre will also provide the backdrop for a series of seasonal music performances, with festive songs from local groups such as the Bristol Cabot Choir, the Clear Sounds Choir and the Sherbourne School Wind Band.

Cabot Circus Centre Director Richard Belt said: “For children there is nothing more magical than meeting Santa Claus himself and we’re delighted that he has this year made the long journey to Bristol at his busiest time of year. Together with Christmas music and our beautiful lights, the grotto will allow visitors of all ages to experience the wonder and intrigue of the festive season.”

Located on Concorde Street between Millie’s Cookies and Wallis, the grotto is open every day until Christmas Eve, when Santa will head off to deliver presents across the globe. Tickets can be pre-booked at www.cabotcircus.com for those wishing to avoid the queues.
