Open-air theatre at Bristol Zoo Gardens

Thursday, 21st May 2009

Award-winning outdoor theatre company, Illyria, will return to Bristol Zoo Gardens for an open-air production of A Midsummer Night's Dream this summer.

Illyria’s production of this perennial Shakespeare favourite will be performed in the stunning grounds of Bristol Zoo on Thursday, July 30.Illyria at Bristol Zoo Gardens

A Midsummer Night's is passionate, poetic and very funny. One young couple who are hopelessly in love, another are in denial, the Duke can't wait to get his hands on his bride-to-be, and the fairy King and Queen hate each other's guts.

Deep in the forest Puck makes a careless mistake, and the consequences escalate into absolute uproar. Amidst the mayhem a group of earnest but talentless workmen start rehearsing a play about a tragically doomed love affair.

Illyria is an intrepid band of five actors who perform Shakespeare’s plays, entirely uncut. A Midsummer Night's Dream is suitable for all ages 8+. Visitors are encouraged to take rugs as there is limited seating. Refreshments and snacks will be available.
