Bristol-based company Digital Visitor has been shortlisted for a prestigious award alongside travel industry giants Air France, Lastminute.com and Kuoni.
The company’s groundbreaking social media solution, Visitor Review, features in the ‘Best Online Application’ category in the highly-esteemed Travolution Awards 2009, which are set to take place later on this year.
Launched a little over a year ago, Visitor Review has strong roots in the West Country. Brunel’s ss Great Britain was one of the first visitor attractions in the UK to see the potential of the technology and their platform is now receiving an abundance of user generated content. Since then Visitor Review has gained invaluable recognition within the leisure and tourism industry and is used by many other visitor attractions, hotels, tourism agencies and is now the official social media solution for the national tourist board, VisitBritain.
“Social media has become a huge topic and Visitor Review was developed to enable businesses to take advantage of the benefits of user generated content whilst keeping clients in their own branded environment.” explains Digital Visitor’s managing director Anthony Rawlins.
Digital Visitor is now working in partnership with VisitBritain to roll out the platform to regional and destination tourist boards all across the country.
Simon Jones, director of marketing for Digital Visitor, comments: "This is the first time there has been a co-ordinated approach to user generated content and we are delighted to be working with Visit Britain on this project. Many regions throughout the UK have already signed up to the initiative, and of course this includes our very own tourist board Destination Bristol".
The awards are taking place at The Dorchester Hotel this September and will feature some of the industry’s most exciting and innovative travel companies.
