Monday, 8th June 2009
Celebrating 500 years this year, Thornbury Castle has gone one step, or a few feet, further in announcing a unique new bed, in a unique new room at the top of this unique castle.
The new Tower Room, 77 steps up at the top of Thornbury Castle, England’s only Tudor castle open as a hotel, features the UK’s biggest bed at 10ft wide. The room boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside and a luxurious under-floor heating system in the bathroom. The whole feel of the bedroom is Royal, with historic period patterns and fabrics from Watts of Westminster covering the headboard, chairs and parts of the walls.
Launching later in 2009 is the room’s very own private roof terrace. Views from this part of the tower are simply stunning and the terrace will add a special private place on top of the Castle to enjoy a memorable moment.
Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn once lived at Thornbury Castle. Today, the 500 year-old castle-palace with its beautiful oriel windows, Tudor hall and historic parkland invites guests to indulge in what is probably one of the most talked about castles in English history.
With its own working vineyard on site and a fantastic menu offering delicious, locally-sourced food all year round, this addition to Thornbury Castle’s history is set to attract even more interest and furthermore make another mark in the diverse history of Thornbury Castle.
The Tower Room is priced from £750.00 per night and includes breakfast. Find out more about Thornbury Castle.
