Professor David Bellamy OBE, the celebrated botanist and conservationist will be guest of honour at a special Day of Celebration at the new University of Bristol Botanic Garden celebration in Stoke Bishop on 5th July.
The Celebration day marks the first two years of public opening at the new garden and will focus on the existing achievements in developing the new garden at the Holmes and the challenges ahead, highlighting the education and conservation work.
Tours of the Garden will take place from 2.00pm. Professor Bellamy will formally open the Evolution Collection at 4.00pm and deliver an address on the importance of botanic gardens in plant conservation. There will be a ceremonial unveiling and tree planting at 4.20pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and chat with Professor Bellamy. Tea and refreshments will be available at the end of the afternoon.
The regular Garden opening days are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm. From 5th July to 30th August inclusive the Garden will also open on Saturdays.

If travelling by car from the city centre proceed across the Downs towards Stoke Bishop. Cross the traffic lights at the edge of Durdham Down. Stoke Park Road is the first turning on the right off Stoke Hill. The entrance to the Botanic Garden is opposite Churchill Hall, Stoke Bishop.
