The undiscovered songs of Woody Guthrie.
Critically acclaimed American singer-songwriter and guitarist Jonatha Brooke is one of a select group of artists to be given access to the thousands of previously unheard lyrics written by Woody Guthrie, legend of American folk blues.
Following Billy Bragg’s 1998 ‘Mermaid Avenue’ album, Jonatha too has set Guthrie’s lyrics to new, contemporary music, and the results are revelatory: powerful, evocative songs that capture Guthrie’s beautiful, panoramic lyricism and walk it into the 21st century.
