Schubert Ensemble l
Fauré Nocturne No 6 in D flat
Martin Butler Sequenza Notturna
Fauré Piano Quartet No 1 in C minor
In the first of its four concerts, the Schubert Ensemble brings energy and lyricism to Gabriel Fauré’s dark and imaginative Nocturne in D and high spirited Piano Quartet No 1. Martin Butler’s Sequenza Notturna is a hauntingly beautiful work in which a reflective and nocturnal mood alternates with more agitated, Spanish-flavoured music.
Recorded for future transmission on BBC Radio 3.
