Rimsky-Korsakov Sadko op 5
Prokoviev Piano Concerto no 3
Khachaturian Spartacus Suite (arr. Simonov)
Conductor Yuri Simonov
Piano Freddy Kempf
A Bristol season wouldn't be complete without a dynamic Russian orchestra at the helm of a tantalising Russian programme. Five years after its last visit - and half a century after catching the world's ear at the first ever Tchaikovsky Competition - the Moscow Philharmonic returns under its distinguished Music Director to mark the Rimsky Korsakov anniversary with a performance of the sea-splashed 'Sadko'.
There's more watery wisdom too as Simonov's own arrangement of the 'Spartacus Suite' gets the wind in its sails; and in between, Freddy kempf attacks Prokoviev's lyrical yet pugnacious piano concerto.

Most buses to the city centre stop at the promenade, where we recommend you alight for the Colston Hall. We are situated on Colston Street, behind the Colston Tower.
