Works by Telemann, Bach, Scarlatti and Vivaldi
In the world of period-instrument ensembles, Musica Petropolitana has a sound and style that is truly distinctive. A central part of the Russian early music revival, its musicians play with spirit, dynamism and warmth.
Travelling from St Petersburg especially for this concert, the players create a faultless, ravishing backdrop for Emma Kirkby’s crystal clear sound and perfect phrasing.
With St George’s providing its glorious acoustic, this exhilarating survey of the endlessly fascinating works of the Baroque opens up a vital world of musical imagination and will send specialists and lay listeners alike into giddy shivers of delight.
