Beethoven Sonata No 9 in E Op 14 No 1
Beethoven Sonata No 10 in G Op 14 No 2
Beethoven Sonata No 8 in C minor Op 13 Pathétique
Schumann Fantasy
A rare, truly revelatory performance from one of the greatest pianists of all time. The idiosyncratic Romanian legend Radu Lupu brings his refined technique, dreamlike lyricism and deep interpretative insight to the rich nineteenth century repertoire of Beethoven and Schumann, some of the most passionate, uplifting and enduring piano music ever written.
The mesmerizing musicianship that emerges from his hands, much admired by fellow pianists such as Daniel Barenboim and Mitsuko Uchida, and seemingly at odds with his nonchalant concert manner and mystic's gaze, is never less than dazzling and will hold you in his thrall.
