Bristol offers a wide range of types of accommodation for visitors, catering for overnights stays, short breaks or long term visits. This short guide explains the differences between types of accommodation and will help you search for suitable accommodation.
Self-Catering & Serviced Apartments
This popular style of accommodation offers the ultimate flexibility and freedom. You can come and go as you please, get up when you like and eat when you want. Most establishments offer short and long term lets and some offer flexible daily rates.

Bed & Breakfasts and Guest Houses
Bed & Breakfasts and Guest Houses provide a very different holiday experience from big hotels, and you're assured service with the truly personal touch. Whoever greets you at the door is likely to serve breakfast the next morning, and will be on hand with local knowledge, advice and assistance. B&Bs are often located outside of the main city centre, giving you easy access to the city, countryside and beyond.

Hotels
In the city you'll find a wide range of two - four star hotels, including comfortable, mid-range hotels and stylish boutique and town house hotels. There are charming country house hotels, often set in extensive grounds in the countryside around Bristol, and there is also budget hotel accommodation located in and around the city.

Inns
These traditional pubs usually provide accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis. Many have fabulous restaurants. It is worth checking to see if you have to pre-book.

Farms
The surrounding countryside of South Gloucestershire and Somerset provide the perfect setting for a relaxing stay on a farm, an experience that comes with the best of local hospitality and freshly cooked food. Again there's a wide choice of properties - everything from friendly bed & breakfast to self-catering, often in beautifully converted farm buildings.

Caravans, Camping, Campus and Hostels
Caravan and camping sites are convenient and cost-effective. Many provide a wide range of facilities and activities. Universities and colleges offer good value accommodation at reasonable pries, although it is worth checking that this is available during term time. Hostels offer good, basic accommodation at budget prices, with flexible accommodation for groups and families, often in dormitory-style accommodation (though many now have single and twin rooms too).
