Bristol has a strong commitment to sustainability. The city is home to Sustrans, the UK's leading sustainable transport charity and the Soil Association, the UK's leading environmental charity promoting sustainable, organic farming. Bristol has many green attractions and over 450 parks and open spaces, proportionately more than any other UK city.
Bristol tourism businesses are making their own contribution to sustainability by participating in the Green Tourism Business Scheme, a national scheme to promote the best environmental practice within the tourism sector
Green Tourism Business Scheme participants:
Fern Cottage - Gold Award
Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel - Silver Award
Arnos Manor Hotel - Silver Award
Ramada Plaza Hotel - Bronze Award
Brook Lodge Touring Caravan and Tent Park - Bronze Award
Businesses are awarded a bronze, silver or gold grading based on many criteria, including energy, water and waste management and involving and informing customers of these 'green' improvements. By agreeing to the GTBS code of conduct members are making a commitment towards reducing the impact of their business on the environment.
Members of the scheme include accommodation providers, visitor attractions, tour operators and conference facilities. Destination Bristol is committed to supporting its members to participate in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
