Apple Day at Windmill HIll City Farm
Windmill Hill City Farm will be holding a fantastic event to celebrate national Apple Day this Autumn. The event will include apple pressing, music, food, and lots of fun activities for all.
The Apple day fun will actually kick off on the Sunday before the event and you could get involved! As part of the farms “Active Citizens” project, supported by The Nominet Trust, we will be foraging for apples on local public spaces, which will then be pressed in our new apple press on Apple Day. If you would like to join in, meet for the foraging walk, at the farm at 2pm on 14th October.
Other apply activities on the day include apple bobbing, apple peeler corer, and we also have an artist on site who will be capturing your memories of a particular food or recipe involving apples.
There will be plenty to eat and drink, including our own farm sausages on the BBQ. Mark Evans, previously of Café Maitreya, will be presiding over the food and will ensure there will be some great veggie options too.
The Bristol Farm shop will be running the bar, selling local beers and of course lots of cider!.
You will also be able to sample and take home some local delights from the farmers market stalls.
For music we have Phil Lyons from BCFM, who will be treating us to some fantastic country & western tunes and Pip the “Human Jukebox” waiting to take your requests.
Lots of fab entertainment is instore, including: family & childrens yoga, knitting classes, storytelling, badgemaking and facepainting.
LifeCycle UK, supported by Bristol City Council, will also be at the farm on the day, running all sorts of cycling activities including a kids bike swap, a bike expo and individual cycling lessons.
These are all aimed at helping families who want to cycle more.
So get on down to the farm on Sunday 21st October for lots of Apple Day fun!
