With its 450ft high cliffs, Cheddar Gorge is the most dramatic landscapes in the UK. Created by ice age melt-waters over millions of years, it carves a deep 3 mile long ravine in the south side of the Mendip Hills.
Gough's Cave is Britain's most beautiful stalactite cavern where Cheddar Man, Britain's oldest skeleton, was found. Audio guides bring the cave to life for kids and adults, telling the fascinating story from the ice age.
In contrast, Cox's Cave is a shimmering brilliantly coloured underground sanctuary with fantastic calcite sculptures, dancing fountains, mirror pools and music evocative of a more spiritual world. Kids love to follow the Crystal Quest and meet the Lord of Darkness and his evil dragon.
Visitors can enjoy the stunning views from the top of the Lookout Tower or follow the Cliff Top Walk through the 360 acre Nature Reserve. The less energetic can board the Open Top Bus and admire the magnificient cliffs and crags, the home of rare Peregrine falcons, as the Bus winds its way up through the Gorge.
