Old Down Country Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Bristol, seeing more than a million visitors in the time it was run by Robert and Alison Bernays.
After they left, it became the private home of musician Mike Oldfield of Tubular Bells fame. He sold up to move overseas and now the new owners, Arron and Katya Banks have re-stocked with animals such as llamas, reindeer, wallabies and various rare-breed livestock.
There's heaps to see and do at Old Down Country Park, with lots of interesting and unusual animals to delight adults and children alike. There's always someone on duty to provide information on the more exotic creatures, or to let you know of any new arrivals! It's educational and lots of fun.
As well as the animals, which include Shetland ponies, Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, geese, turkeys, cattle and peacocks, there is also an adventure playground for youngsters, woodland walks, gardens, a fishing lake, walled Victorian garden and croquet lawn.
There is a café open serving light refreshments and farm shop selling organic produce, too.
