Spike Island

Spike Island is a place for the production and exhibition of contemporary art and design, situated on the southern end of Bristol’s historic docks in a former Brooke Bond tea packing factory. Spike Island forms a major part of an exciting hub of creative and cultural activity amongst Bristol’s Harbourside community.

Spike Island offers visitors a year-round programme of exhibitions, events and family activities in the stunning central gallery spaces, as well as providing artists’ studios and commercial workspace for both new and established designers and creative businesses. Spike Café is located at the front of the building and is open to visitors seven days a week. The café provides a fantastic, sunny, south-facing space in which to relax, read the paper, have a meeting, surf the net or grab a quick lunch or lazy afternoon coffee.

Be sure to try out the tasty homemade sandwiches, soups and salads, all of which have been made using local, free range and ethical ingredients and produce wherever possible. Spike Café also serves a range of teas and herbal alternatives, triple-certified Rainforest Alliance coffee and a quality selection of soft drinks, ales and alcoholic beverages.
