Glastonbury Abbey, burial place of the legendary King ArthurGlastonbury Abbey is one of the oldest religious foundations in Britain, steeped in history and legend. Extensive Abbey ruins, largely destroyed during Henry VIII's Reformation, in 36 acres of beautiful parkland. Major features include St Mary's Chapel, the Abbot's Kitchen, and reputedly the graves of King Arthur and his wife Guinevere. Another famous legend is that of Joseph of Arimathea, who it is claimed buried the Chalice of the Holy Grail here, and along with his followers, built a settlement and small Glastonbury Abbey through gatechurch in the area. There is a Visitor Centre and souvenir shop

The town of Glastonbury is well-known, not only for it's connections with the legend of King Arthur, but also for its connections with the history of Christianity. History, myth and legend combine in such a way that most visitors cannot fail to sense the powerful ambience of the town, which is internationally-renowned as a centre for New Age culture and spiritual healing, and gives its name to a famous music and arts festival held annually nearby.

Glastonbury TorGlastonbury Tor is a striking landmark just outside the town; it rises dramatically from the flat landscape of the Somerset Levels to a height of 158 metres (525 feet) above sea level, and is a focus for many of the legends and spiritual energies associated with the area.
