About
Old Church Farm is an historic, AA 5 star Gold Award guest house which can trace its roots back a thousand years to when it was King Harold of Wessex's (born 1022) hunting lodge.
It was extended in the 16th Century and two of the reception rooms feature original Tudor ceilings. Originally called Alveston Manor, the guest house takes its modern name from the ruin of the Church of St Helen, which lies in its 8 acre grounds and held its last service in 1865. More recently, the house was owned by Rolls Royce PLC who used it to entertain visiting dignitaries.
It has 5 guest suites all with countryside views and there is a conference centre with meeting rooms for corporate guests. Old Church Farm is for adult guests only.
All food served at Old Church Farm is home made using local ingredients some of which come from the walled vegetable garden. Three course evening meals are available Monday to Saturday and require 24 hours' notice.
No pets allowed in the guesthouse, only assistance dogs permitted.
The house and grounds are fully licensed to serve wines, beers and spirits. Breakfast is available every day with 12 hours' notice. Outside the property is a terrace with garden furniture overlooking the croquet lawn and an ornamental rose garden. The deconsecrated churchyard can be accessed from the entrance to Old Church Farm and features one of the country's great ancient Yew trees as well as the church ruin.
There is plenty of free parking on site and the facility to charge an electric vehicle.
Free WiFi is available throughout the property with super fast 950 Mb/second connectivity.
From its countryside setting guests can access Bristol, Bath, the Mendips, the Cotswolds, the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean.
Old Church Farm was crowned the Best B&B and Guesthouse 2022 in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards.
