Towed Town Camping is an indoor campground, situated in a repurposed warehouse close to Bristol city centre in St Philips. The 'campsite' itself is close to the banks of the River Avon, part of the city's famed industrial and more recently creative hub. Step inside the warehouse and you'll find five unique, cosy and lovingly revamped vintage caravans.
There's also a communal 'hangout' area complete with pool and table tennis tables, books, games as well as an honesty shop.
Three of their caravans have small double beds and two have king sized beds (if you are over 6'2 they suggest going for one of their larger caravans, Asha or Elsie). Each caravan is equipped with its own grassy area - perfect for a morning coffee and evening drinks. You'll also find surprisingly spacious bathrooms, with shower, toilet and sink directly opposite each caravan.
Now it's time to choose your favourite. Cleopatra is a 1960's sprite, stylishly re-imagined as a vibrant eighties Miami Beach haven. She includes a cosy small double bed, a seating area and a small wardrobe.
You'll find Dotty decked in bold, dark colours for a minimalistic feel, with a comfy lounging seat for two. Meanwhile, sophisticated Mia - a 1960's Monza caravan feels luxuriously spacious inside.
A 1993 Omega, Asha is the youngest caravan, grandly equipped with a kingsize bed and a separate dressing area. Finally, Elsie is the largest of the five, featuring a super kingsize bed and a relaxing sofa.
Despite the caravans' ages, each has become fairly modern and are equipped with a freeview television and electric points with usb for all your charging needs. Each caravan also has an electric heater which will keep you warm and cosy during winter nights and a kitchenette area with fridge and all necessities needed for a cup of tea or coffee. Unfortunately due to fire risk, they have had to remove the gas stove, so you will not be able to do any cooking within the van, but hey, you're on holiday! Enjoy one of the many restaurants or order in a takeaway instead!
They welcome both individual and group bookings. For groups their space can also be hired out exclusively and they can sleep a maximum of 11 people. They welcome groups for parties, celebrations and commercial events.
Their goal is to take under-appreciated buildings in great destinations and infuse them with a little bit of soul, so you can have an alternative to the standard hotel experience at more affordable prices.
