This Christmas, a stunning display of festive light and sound is coming to Bristol Cathedral, transforming this ancient building into a dazzling spectacle of light and sound as the Nativity story is retold like never before.

In The Beginning is a stunning visual display, bringing a contemporary twist to an ancient, much-loved story for audiences of all ages. The atmospheric interior of the Cathedral will be the perfect backdrop for this beautiful celebration of Christmas, open from 25 - 29 November.

Spectacular Christmas light display

Using the historic walls of Bristol Cathedral as a canvas, In The Beginning is an uplifting journey through the oldest story of Christmas, reimagined for a modern audience.

This is a moving event, during which audiences progress through different light and sound installations, located throughout the Cathedral. A limited number of chairs will be available at the sides in key locations, available on a first come first served basis.

A Christmas experience for all the family

In The Beginning is an experience for everyone. The installations are a perfect blend of bright colour and dramatic sound, mixed with quieter, more contemplative moments. Audiences are encouraged to take their time as they move through the displays, to really make the most of the experience.

In order to create an immersive show, this experience is very loud and therefore may not be suitable for those with noise sensitivities. For a quieter display, be sure to visit before 6pm, after which the volume is turned up. Children's ear defenders are available to borrow on a first come first served basis.

Dates are limited, so book your tickets now for this magical festive experience. Tickets are £11.99 for adults and £7.99 for children under 16. Under 3s go free.
