With May fast approaching, are you ready to get walking with Bristol Walk Fest?
Bristol Walk Fest is an annual walking festival that runs from 1 - 31 May during National Walking Month, and this year there are over 200 walks to choose from.

Walk Fest Launch Event
The festival launches on Wednesday 1 May with an inaugural group walk across The Downs, starting from the Water Tower at 17:30. This will be followed by talks from members of the Bristol walking community. This event takes place at 19:00 and is hosted by event sponsors Ellis Brigham at their shop on Whiteladies Road
You do not need a ticket to join the walk, but the launch event at Ellis Brigham with guest speakers must be booked in advance. Book your ticket here.

Health and Wellbeing
- Walk Leader Course - A short course taking you through all the practical steps and resources you will need to start organising a walking group in your organisation, local area or further afield.
- Wheelie Good Accessible Walk - Enjoy a sociable wheel/walk in Oldbury Court Estate/Vassalls Park to explore and test out access needs, routes and pausing places.
- Walk and Talk for Unpaid Carers - This friendly taster session is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy nature and a stroll in the company of other carers and learning about the support available.

Walking Sports
- Kingswood Titans walking Rugby - A fun team game, passing a rugby ball. No impact, just two-handed touch tackles. Suitable for adults of all ages. If you can walk, you can play.
- Bristol Parks Walking Tennis - Walking Tennis is an excellent way to take up tennis or to get back into tennis activities. There will be sessions across all of the park tennis courts in Bristol, dates and times vary.
- Bristol Rovers Walking Football - Join this session to get a taste for walking football. Everyone over 60 is able to join in a safe and welcoming environment.

Nature and Wildlife
- Bishops Knoll - Discover the hidden secrets of Bishops Knoll, a mix of varied trees, terraced paths and an astonishing history. There’s a steep climb back up at the end of the walk.
- Dawn Chorus - An early morning exploration of the woodlands, lake and fields of Stoke Park, to see, hear & identify the brilliant birds of May.
- Community Gardens of BS3 - An urban walk highlighting small green spaces being transformed by the community into pocket parks and growing spaces which are making the city cleaner, greener and more wildlife-friendly.

History and Architecture
- Bristol’s Queer History - An epic self-guided journey around important LGBTQ+ sites, from bars and clubs to hairdressers and historic places of interest.
- Bristol’s Floating Harbour - A tour of Bristol’s historic harbour, exploring its rich industrial and maritime heritage.
- Walking the Bristol Bus Boycott - Walks4Change will walk a mile (or two) in the shoes of the pioneering protestors that led the Bristol Bus Boycott.

Arts and Culture
- Blackbeard to Banksy - Join a fun story and fact-packed tour of Bristol city centre. Walk the medieval walls, listen for bizarre echoes and hear about Bristol’s rich street art scene.
- Bristol Bookshop Crawl - Discover independent bookshops and buy books (discounts and perks will be available) with like-minded people on this walking tour.
- Bristol’s Rock and Roll Walking Tour - A fun, informative outdoor guided walk of legendary Bristol music venues, with stories of the stars that played them.

Go Jauntly x New May Challenge - Enjoy a walk a day in May
Join Bristol's May Walking Challenge hosted by Travelwest and Bristol City Council! Walk at least 15 minutes a day throughout May to unlock badges. Bristol-based residents can also win local shopping prizes.

North Somerset Walk Fest
Also taking place during May is North Somerset Walkfest. Highlights include: visually impaired walk at Tynesfield, Weston Wonder walks, Blaze trails – poet’s walk.
