Post-flight fry up

The Lockside Cafe in Hotwells is a great place to meet up after an early morning balloon flight and a good way to soak up the post flight Champagne. By the time I have been up for a good few hours a full breakfast is often the way to keep going through the day. If I haven’t been flying there are lots of healthy choices such as asparagus with poached eggs or Greek yoghurt with raspberries and almonds.

Sourdough snacks

Mark's Bread in Bedminster sells all homemade food. The breads and pastries are yummy and I like to pop in for some sourdough bread that makes wonderful toast for late night snacks after an evening balloon flight!

Lunch of kings

I think Falafel King on Cotham Hill serve the best falafels around. I love to have a take away and then sit on a bench on the downs to allow the crumbs and mess to be blown away or eaten by the birds!

Afternoon tea

Mint tea time at Boston Tea Party on Park Street! I love a Pot of Triple Mint tea to wash down a slice of gluten-free orange and almond cake.

Fizz with friends

The Albion in Clifton has recently been refurbished and looks really good. Great place to meet friends and have a glass or two of prosecco outside in the evening sun watching the balloons float overhead. Their food is really good too.

A real pub with real ales

The White Horse in Westbury on Trym is a real pub with fabulous food and a rather fine selection of quirky and wonderful real ales, gins, vodkas and cocktails. The food is wonderful with a carefully selected menu that I always find hard to choose from. They also serve a delicious chardonnay that slips down very well with the gorgeous food. (Although if I had eaten all of this in one day, the balloon might not take off!)
