Located in the centre of the city the covered shopping areas of Cabot Circus, The Galleries and The Arcade plus the traffic-free streets of Broadmead and Quakers Friars make Bristol Shopping Quarter one of the best places to shop in the South West.

You’ll find all your favourite high street names such as Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and Boots, not to mention one of the country’s largest Primark stores. There are designer labels too, plus supermarkets for those everyday essentials and around 90 independent retailers. The variety is hard to beat!

But don’t rush away when you’ve finished shopping because there’s plenty more to see and do...

Around the world

Go around the world with Bristol Shopping Quarter’s Flag Trail and summer events

This summer you can travel around the world without even having to get on a plane.

Bristol Shopping Quarter’s Around the World flag trail will run from 22 July to 2 September. Collect a ‘passport’ from Specsavers in Merchant Street, Bakers Dolphin in The Arcade, Julian Charles in The Galleries, or the information desk in Cabot Circus and search for the 50 flags that will be displayed in shops.

If you find at least 25 flags, and enter the names of the relevant countries on your passport, you can enter a prize draw to win a fantastic prize – simply return your passport to one of the above venues where there will be post boxes for entries.

Events in Broadmead every Tuesday will continue the Around the World theme - all things Australian will be celebrated on 25 July, with Hawaii, Mexico, Kenya, Japan and Jamaica to follow.

The Galleries will be hosting a special pirate-themed event on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 July, with visits from Captain Hook and Mr Smee plus performances, balloon modelling, games, face painting and more.

And on Thursdays 27 July; 3, 17 & 24 August the centre will host a series of English country garden themed craft activities. Young shoppers will have great fun painting sun catchers and garden gnomes, decorating pots, making wind catcher mobiles and bird feeders, and will be able to take their work home.

Enjoy a delicious meal

From breakfast to morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, you’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding where to eat.

There are around 50 cafés and restaurants spread around Bristol Shopping Quarter including independents like La Grotta and Café Amore, who have both fed generations of shoppers over the decades.

You’ll also find family-friendly chains like Giraffe and Yo! Sushi and if you want a fine dining experience, the Second Floor Restaurant at Harvey Nichols is hard to beat.

One of our top tips for turning a shopping trip into a special occasion is to meet with friends for afternoon tea – Brasserie Blanc and the New Room’s café both serve great ones with tasty scones and lashings of jam and clotted cream!
