The Bristol bar scene is one of the most thrilling and diverse in the country, with a plethora of independent breweries, gin distilleries, hidden speakeasies and, of course, as capital of the South West, some of the finest cider-serving establishments in the land.

This autumn, Bristol is in the mood to celebrate its beverages with a number of exciting drinks festivals, so sip those chillier days away with this cracking lot…don’t forget to drink responsibly!

Factoberfest (8-10 September)

Swig a pint or three at Bristol Beer Factory and Tobacco Factory’s annual mini beer festival. Featuring a handsome array of over 60 craft beers and ciders from independent makers, there’ll also be live blues, Americana and country music to bop along to, scrummy street food from Bristol Eats and fun stuff for the kiddos.

Cocktails in the City at The Passenger Shed (15 September)

Get into the spirit with Cocktails in the City at The Passenger Shed, Bristol Temple Meads.  Sixteen of the city’s best bars, including The Milk Thistle, Hyde & Co, Pata Negra and Harvey Nichols Second Floor Restaurant and Bar, will be there in pop-up form, mixing up specially-designed concoctions; from beautifully constructed Rhubarb Negronis and Cuban Coconuts to the more unusual Absinthe Frappés and Tequila-based Knickerbocker Glories. There’ll be tasting tables where you can blend (and try!) your own cocktails and delectable street food from Bristol’s Bambalan, Eatchu and AlpMac with which to compliment your tasty tipple. Look out for the Bristol-distilled 6 O’Clock Gin - one of the featured spirits.

Bristol Craft Beer Festival (15-17 September)

Held at Motion, in the heart of the city’s booming craft ale and micro brewing industry, Bristol Craft Beer Festival brings together the best creative independent brewers from Bristol and beyond. Tickets allows visitors ‘unlimited pours’ from a selection of over 200 beers, while tapping into talks and demos. Look out for local ales by Moor Beer, Wiper & True and Left Handed Giant.

This year the Festival team are joining forces with Eat Drink Bristol Fashion and its co-founder, culinary big shot, Josh Eggleton (also of The Pony & Trap and Salt & Malt) to feed hungry festival-goers from some of the tastiest establishments in the city.

And if that wasn’t enough, you can boogie the weekend away with a top roster of DJs including DJ Yoda, Bombay Bicycle Club, Norman Jay and Metronomy.
