  • Advent Procession and Carol Service: Sun 3 Dec, 6pm

A special candlelit service to mark the beginning of Advent.

  • Advent Sacred Space: Sunday 10 December, 6pm

A special Advent Sacred Space. Experience led meditation and reflection with live Taize chant in a candelit Cathedral. Arrive from 5.45pm for a 6pm start. The evening will last around an hour and mulled wine and mince pies will be served afterwards.

  • Carols by Candlelight : Fri 15 & Sat 16 Dec, 7pm

This ticketed concert includes carols sung by the Cathedral Choir, festive readings and a chance for everyone to join in with some seasonal favourites.

  • Family Carol Service: Sun 17 Dec, 3.30pm

A retelling of the nativity story especially for families. Children are encouraged to come dressed as wise men, angels, or shepherds. (Adults too, if you want!)  This is a service, and so is not ticketed.

  • Shoppers’ Carols: Tues 19 Dec. 5.15pm

Experience a moment of calm in amongst busy-ness of the season with a short carol service in the beautiful atmosphere of Bristol Cathedral. Admission is free and all are welcome

  • Toddler Carols: Wednesday 20 December, 10am

Too young for Nine Lessons and Carols? Come along to this informal carol service for babies, toddlers and pre-school children. The Cathedral will be decorated for Christmas and they will sing all the favourites as they move around the building, so no need to worry about noise or wrigglers!

  • Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols : Sat 23 Dec, 6pm and Christmas Eve, 3.30pm

One of the most loved traditional Christmas services. Due to the extremely popular nature of this service, please arrive with plenty of time, to ensure being able to be given a seat. Last year the Christmas Eve service was very busy: do consider attending the 6.00pm service on Saturday 23 to avoid disappointment. 

  • Eucharist of Christmas Night: Christmas Eve, 11pm

Welcome in the light of Christmas morning with this special midnight Eucharist.

  • Festival Eucharist: Christmas Day, 10am

Celebrate Christmas morning at the Cathedral. The Cathedral Choir will be accompanied by the organ, a string quartet and a trumpeter. All are welcome.

Starting by the light of one candle, the choir moves through the church singing sublime Advent Music, with readings and Advent hymns for the congregation. The end of the service sees all the candles lit in church.

Soak up the Christmas spirit by joining us for this festive singalong, reflecting the church’s role as a beacon for the local community.

  • treefest 2017 – Wednesday 6-Monday 11 December

treefest is a spectacular festive display of Christmas trees held in the Gothic splendour of St Mary Redcliffe Church.  Each year they invite local organisations to get involved by entering a Christmas tree and decorating it in a style of their choosing. This offers local charities, schools, businesses and other organisations a great opportunity to tell local people about their services, causes or activities, while helping to raise money for good causes. There’s also a varied musical programme and a chance for visitors to vote for their favourite tree.

In this service there'll be traditional carols accompanied by the Easton Salvation Army Brass Band with festive carols from the church's choirs.

There’s something for everyone here! Carols for all to sing, sacred and secular, with poems and readings, all led by the Redcliffe Chamber Choir.

Prepare for Christmas with this child-friendly service to hear the Christmas story and to welcome the Bethlehem Peace Light.

  • Choral Evensong: Sun 24th Dec 6:30 - 7:30pm

This a fully sung choral service, at which a sermon is given, using the liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer. The choir, accompanied by our famous Harrison & Harrison organ, sings an introit and an anthem as well as settings of Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis. The service lasts about 60 minutes.

  • Wells Cathedral Carol Services: Friday 22 and Saturday 23 December, 6.00pm

A traditional carol service led by the world-renowned Wells Cathedral choir, plus bible readings. This year Wells Cathedral will be hosting two carol services on Friday 22 December and also on Saturday 23 December. These traditional services take place on both nights from 6-7.30pm, are not ticketed and are always popular so please arrive in good time (to be seated by 5.40pm).

  • Wells Cathedral Family Crib Services: Sunday 24 December, 2.00pm and 3.15pm

A very warm welcome to Wells Cathedral’s two crib services, especially to children who are invited to dress as a shepherd, or an angel or a King! They'll have some dressing up clothes for children who will also be invited to take part in making a real nativity scene in the Cathedral. Each service will last approximately 30 minutes.
